This week I worked on defining my final project idea and started to getting used to the documentation process. Research
My idea is to design a robot that is as affordable and simple as possible. The purpose of this robot is to provide emotional comfort when people feel stressed, lonely, or in a low mood. This idea was inspired by my personal experience using AI models such as ChatGPT and Gemini for conversation when I am alone. While talking to AI may sound unusual at first, it can be a meaningful way for people to pause, reflect, and emotionally recharge before reconnecting with others. We all need moments of solitude to recover and regain emotional balance, and this project was created with that mission in mind. The slogan of this project is: “Robots help you reconnect with relationships, not replace them.” Technically, the robot uses a Raspberry Pi as its main processing unit, acting as the “brain” of the system. The Raspberry Pi connects to AI services such as ChatGPT or Gemini via the internet, converts text responses into speech, and enables two-way voice interaction through a microphone and speaker. The robot’s face will be fully displayed using an LED screen, allowing flexible customization of facial expressions and visual emotions. For movement, the robot uses four wheels to ensure stability and simple mobility. Since communication is the core purpose of this project, the main focus will be placed on Raspberry Pi processing, voice input/output, and system integration rather than complex mechanical motion.
